Taylor Swift Gives Katy Perry Direct, Surprise Hit as ‘Witness’ Drops
In a pop star gut punch heard 'round the world, Taylor Swift did her best to overshadow Katy Perry's release of Witness tonight. Swift decided that as Perry shared her new album on YouTube via a special event (Katy Perry: Witness World Wide), she'd release her entire back catalog on all streaming services.
According to the Taylor Nation Twitter, the gesture is "in celebration of 1989 selling over 10 Million Albums Worldwide and the RIAA's 100 Million Song Certification announcement."
But, c'mon. We all know it's just the latest battle attack in an ongoing war between Swift and Perry. Swift knows Perry is hopefully waiting on those Witness downloads, and she swooped in to distract fans who haven't picked a pop star side by offering a major haul of her free music.
Will there ever be an end to the madness, particularly when "Band aids don't fix bullet holes?" Looks Lily Allen wants to see that hatchet buried sooner rather than later. In a tweet, she called Swift's moves "mean."
Strap in, dear readers. It's bound to be a bumpy ride!
