Syracuse University Alum, Comedian Jerry Stiller Passes Away

Syracuse University alum, comedian Jerry Stiller has passed away at the age of 92.

Ben Stiller broke the sad news on Twitter. "He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed."

Stiller earned a degree in Speech and Drama at Syracuse University in 1950 after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II.

In 1954 Stiller married Anne Meara and the two created the comedy team Stiller and Meara. The couple had two children, Ben & Amy Stiller. Meara passed away in May 2015.

Stiller starred in television and movies. One of his most notable roles was George Costanza's father Frank, on Seinfeld. He was even nominated for an Emmy for his role in 1997.

After Seinfeld ended, Kevin James asked him to join the cast of The King of Queens.

In 2007 Stiller received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, surrounded by his wife Meara, son Ben and daughter Amy.
