Update 8:00 a.m.
According to the Townsquare Media Binghamton News Department, Whitney Point Central School District has now joined Susquehanna Valley in calling in extra police as a precaution stemming from the meme found on social media but they also do not believe there is a credible threat to any of the schools in Whitney Point.

Susquehanna Valley School District has posted the following on their website,

Susquehanna Valley has been made aware of a possible threat currently circulating on social media platforms. What appears to be a meme, which makes a general threat against "a school" does NOT specifically reference Susquehanna Valley or any of our individual buildings. Early indications are that it was either generated or shared from an address possibly in eastern Broome County. Our School Resource Officer and administrators are working closely with local authorities to determine its origins. I can assure you that the safety and security of our students and staff is and always will be our number one priority. While at this time we do not believe this to be a credible threat against our district or any of our schools, out of an abundance of caution we have added police presence to our campuses today and will continue to work with authorities to pursue this and all such matters to the fullest extent of the law.

Original Story
Townsquare Media Binghamton has received several phone calls from parents with children who attend school in the Susquehanna Valley School District stating that a voicemail was left for them early this morning notifying them that there will be a police presence at all schools in the district all day today, Tuesday, October 15.

In the voicemail, Susquehanna Valley School District administrators explained that a meme was found on social media depicting a school shooting, however authorities don't believe that the threat was credible nor do they believe that it was directed at any particular Susquehanna Valley school. Administrators and authorities have decided to take precautions and thus the reason for the police presence.

According to one mother who called Townsquare Media, the voicemail she received also stated that authorities believe the meme may have originated in Eastern Broome County.

This story is developing.
