Some Broome Weis Markets Administering COVID Vaccines
Southern Tier residents over the age of 65 are being signed up for the Moderna vaccine at some area Weis Markets’ pharmacies.
According to weismarkets.com, select locations began offering the shots this week.
Broome County locations are on Day Hollow road in West Corners, Robinson Street, Binghamton and Rano Boulevard in Vestal. Appointments are being made on-line and reportedly are being scheduled three days out but fill up quickly. Another location is in Chemung County in Elmira.
First consideration is being given to those age 65 and older.
Even if a person under the age of 65 attempting to schedule an appointment is in group 1a or 1b that were already designated as eligible (that includes medical professionals, nursing home staff, teachers, police, firefighters and other essential workers.) are being instructed to go through the New York State vaccination scheduling site. Calls to healthcare facilities like medical practices and doctors’ offices are also being referred to the state site.
Broome County is urging resident NOT to call the county health department as the county vaccination site at the SUNY Broome Community College Ice Center is not operating yet and is not booking appointments. The County expects to have more information available for residents once it receives its doses of vaccine.
