Smoking Options Shrink at New York State Fair in 2022

Looking ahead to the summer months, some people planning on attending the New York State Fair will have to make some adjustments to their habits.

Organizers of the Great New York State Fair says smoking anything, for the most part, won’t be “fair” at the summertime event this year.

The Fair has announced it will ban smoking on almost the entire Fairgrounds with only small, designated outdoor smoking areas.

Fair Director Troy Waffner says smoking has always come in at the top of the list of issues fairgoers have talked about. He was it was particularly acute in 2021.

The ban applies to the Fair only and the smoking policies for events at the fairgrounds at other times of the year will remain the responsibility of the event promoters in line with New York State laws.
