Roberson Museum in Binghamton Gets Ready for Home for the Holidays

Roberson Museum and Science Center in Binghamton is getting ready to welcome residents and visitors Home for the Holidays and museum director Michael Grasso tells the weekly local public affairs program, Southern Tier Close Up the annual event continues to evolve.

Grasso, who has served as the head of the historic museum and mansion on Front Street for only a year, says he is very excited to be part of the tradition that literally brings people home to Binghamton for the holidays.

A big part of Home for the Holidays, which began as only a Christmas Tree forest, is the international tree exhibit that grows with the ever-changing diversity of the local community.  Grasso says the traditionally decorated conifers are gaining a new and increased popularity as more people explore their heritage through ancestry search television programs and businesses.

Even as traditions are explored, Grasso says he believes even Alonzo and Margaret Roberson would have continued to evolve and change with the times, embracing all the latest styles and trends which can be explored through the many trees throughout the museum and mansion designed by local artists.

Home for the Holidays opens in mid-November and continues to January.

Grasso also talks about some plans for the museum in 2019.
