My wife is going to lose her mind.

According to NBC 10 News, the chain of arts and crafts stores know as  AC Moore, is going out of business, its parent company Nicole Crafts announced Monday.

According to the report, 40 of the AC Moore stores will open as Michaels stores next year. As for the AC Moore in Vestal, it is not certain when it will close,  with Nicole Crafts saying specifics about closures will be announced in the coming weeks. However, I'm guessing the chances of that opening as a Michaels are highly unlikely being that there is a Michaels store just down the parkway next to Old Navy.

According to a press release obtained by the Cision PRNewswire, AC Moore's Chief Executive Officer Anthony Piperno was quoted as saying;

"For over 30 years, our stores have been servicing the creative community with a vast selection of art and craft materials, with one common focus, the customer.  Unfortunately, given the headwinds facing many retailers in today's environment, it made it very difficult for us to operate and compete on a National level.  During this process, we will continue to provide great customer experience, while still delivering quality and value on your favorite products.  Plans for closing specific A.C. Moore locations will be shared in the upcoming weeks on our website.  While we will stop accepting further online orders as of today, we will ship any previously placed orders in the ordinary course."

NBC 10 News reported that the chain store started in the mid-80's in New Jersey, and there are approximately 140 locations primarily, on the east coast.
