A Broome County resident has been arrested after she allegedly made up a story about being issued a warning ticket for traveling during the pandemic emergency.

Authorities say 32-year-old Alexia Pike of Endicott has been charged with third-degree forgery.

According to New York State Police, Pike's employer reported she had shown a picture of a "warning ticket" that she claimed she had received from a Broome County sheriff's deputy.

Pike allegedly said the ticket was issued to her for traveling during the COVID-19 state of emergency.

Investigators determined the ticket was bogus and Pike had used a state trooper's name and shield number. It turned out that trooper had assisted Pike a couple of months ago after she had been involved in a vehicle crash.

Pike was issued an appearance ticket for Union town court.
