Plea Deal Reached in Johnson City Easter Killing
Sentencing is set for September for the man accused of fatally shooting a woman attending a party at a Johnson City home early Easter Sunday.
29 year old Corey “Gutter” Robinson pleaded guilty July 6 to a reduced charge of felony manslaughter in the death of 46 year old Erika Smith.
Police say Smith was not the intended target when Robinson returned to the party with a gun after getting into a fight with another person at the gathering. Authorities say Smith was fatally wounded by a shot through a window at the home on Crocker Avenue between Main Street and Corliss Avenue.
Following the shooting, which also wounded two others, Robinson fled to Georgia where he was apprehended days later.
Under the plea deal, Robinson will be sentenced to 15 years in prison on September 10th. He could have faced up to life in prison had he been convicted of murder.
