According to numerous media reports Pier 1 Imports, which filed bankruptcy in February, has announced it has asked for court approval to close all locations.

The Fort Worth, Texas retailer issued a news release May 19 confirming it was looking for bankruptcy court approval for what it called “an orderly wind-down” of operations of the stores that had attempted to reopen following the COVID-19 mandated shutdown.

Pier 1 continues to accept orders on its website but says it plans liquidation sales once store locations are allowed to reopen.

The company reported 541 locations in the United States. That includes an outlet on the Vestal Parkway.

For customers who have purchased items from Pier 1 in recent days, the company says it will accept returns for the first 30 days from date of purchase but items sold during liquidation sales will not be accepted for return.

Valid gift certificates, gift cards and loyalty certificate that have already been issued will be accepted for 21 days from when the order is approved on the website.  Gift cards and certificates will be accepted for the first 21 days from the reopening of stores for in-person purchases.  After the 21 days, they are worthless.
