Pennsylvania State Police Warn About a Fake Cop

Authorities in Central Pennsylvania are warning motorists of someone posing as a police officer who stopped a woman on Route 11 in Lackawanna County and who could possibly operate in the Northern Tier as well.

State Police say the man was driving a white newer, middle-sized car that looked like an unmarked police vehicle with red and blue lights in the grill.

The man posing as a law enforcement official stopped the woman north of the Dalton Do It Center in La Plume Township at around 4:30 p.m. March 14 and started yelling at her for speeding.

The driver was suspicious and questioned the faux cop several times since he only flashed a badge briefly, was not in uniform, did not identify himself as being from a specific police agency and did not appear to have any tactical gear or firearm on him.

When pressed again for identification, the man flashed a badge again that looked like a star with balls on the end of each point that said “Susquehanna County” on it.

The man is white, average height and weight, in his 30s with dirty blond hair in a short, military-style cut with no facial hair and no glasses.
