Penn. Bars, Restaurants Must Stop Selling Alcohol Early Wednesday
The last call for alcohol will come early in Pennsylvania on Thanksgiving Eve because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
State officials have ordered restaurants and bars to stop selling alcohol at 5 p.m Wednesday. The directive also applies to private catered events.
The one-night alcohol sales directive was announced Monday afternoon by Governor Tom Wolf and Health Secretary Rachel Levine.
State officials say models project 22,000 new Covid-19 cases a day in Pennsylvania during December.
The Wolf administration is encouraging Pennsylvanians "to limit unnecessary travel and to stay at home."
The early suspension of alcohol sales at restaurants and bars is being imposed only on Wednesday.
