The word from the Democrat August 6 is said to be “a strong recommendation and not a mandate.”

The administration says school administrators and locally elected school boards should make decisions on sports and whether students in Pennsylvania should return to in-person classes or remote learning.

The recommendation applies to team and individual school and non-school recreational youth sports, includes competitions and intramural play and scrimmages.  The statement says the guidance calls for continuing conditioning, drills and other training activities on an individual basis.

The Governor’s suggestion does not apply to collegiate and professional sports.

Pennsylvania’s limit on gatherings remains at no more than 25 people gathering indoors and 250 outside.
