Opening Date Set for McCoy’s Chophouse Restaurant in Endicott
Jim McCoy is getting ready to return to the restaurant business with the launch of a new establishment in Endicott's Union District.
McCoy's Chophouse on West Main Street has scheduled its soft opening for next week.
The eatery is located just west of Nanticoke Avenue, in the space that had been home to Lampy's restaurant, which McCoy operated since 2004.
McCoy told WNBF News the kitchen at the new restaurant should be operational by Wednesday or Thursday.
People who were regular customers at Lampy's or Number 5 restaurant in Binghamton will be given the first opportunity to sample the Chophouse starting September 9.
McCoy said the restaurant will open to the general public for dinner and for takeout a week later.
Number 5 and Lampy's closed their dining rooms last March because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Reservations will be required at the new restaurant because of the state 50 percent capacity mandate. Other health guidelines will be in place as well.
McCoy said the Chophouse will honor all Number 5 and Lampy's gift certificates.
Although the project has taken longer than anticipated, McCoy is looking forward to the opening. He said "it's going to be a neat restaurant."
