Talk about sticking your nose where it doesn't belong!

It looks like this pooch got himself into a boatload of trouble following his nose. Thankfully the Oswego Fire Department was up to rescue him without any injuries.

The Oswego Fire Department says they used a Holmatro Spreader for the rescue. The spreader, also called HATS, is constructed from high-grade aluminum and fitted with a unique rotation mechanism whereby the tool can easily be placed in any direction and under any angle. It features an electric push-button or *dead man's handle with the spreading power of more than 7.7 tons.

A dead mand's handle is a handle on a machine with a small button which must be kept pressed down to continue operation.

The poor dog must have been petrified with the loud noise, and we're surprised he didn't hurt himself trying to get out of the situation on his own. Thankfully he was uninjured, shook it off, and was soon on his way to get into some more mischief. LOL.

Oswego Firefighters were recently given life-saving oxygen masks for dogs and cats form Black Creek Veterinary Clinic. The oxygen masks allow for the high flow of oxygen to dogs and cats and should be considered mandatory equipment for every fired department.

Industry sources estimate 40,000 to 150,000 pets die each year in fires. Most succumb to smoke inhalation. In most states, emergency responders lack the equipment to resuscitate and save pets.

The oxygen masks for dogs and cats are free for every firehouse and part of Invisible Fence Brand's Project Breath, which aims to equip every fire station in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K. with pet oxygen masks.
