As the Greater Binghamton Job Market that includes Broome and Tioga Counties has repeatedly been struggling with economic recovery, the latest numbers from the New York State Department of Labor are showing more good news for the rest of the state.

New York’s unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest level on record, dipping to 4% in October for the first time in three decades. The rate for September was 4.1%.

The National Unemployment Rate is at 3.7%.

The New York State Labor Department says the total number of unemployed in the state in October was just under 388,000. That is the lowest since April of 2001.
