I remember back in the day when I decided it would be a good idea to learn to skate with some of my friends who already had mastered the art. Well, after I laced up the skates and got help standing up, it took me a bit of time to get up the courage to move forward.

Well, if I remember correctly, I got a few feet standing up, but that was about it. I lost my balance, crashed to the ice, somehow got off the ice, probably with the help of my friends who were having a good laugh, and decided then and there, this would be the first and last time I try to skate on ice again.

Well, if you are not like me, and love to ice skate, there's a lot of winter left, well at least six more weeks according to Punxsutawney Phil if you believe that stuff, and there's good news for outdoor enthusiasts who attend or work at Binghamton University.

The State University of New York at Binghamton now has a new outdoor ice skating rink. According to the Binghamton University website, the ice rink was built on the Old Dickinson Co-Rec Field.

It's open to all Binghamton University students, staff and faculty seven days a week from Noon to 8pm through March 17th. Ice skates are available for free to use at the new rink.

The Binghamton University website lists a few guidelines for those planning on using the ice rink including all showing your Binghamton University ID card to check in.
