New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli is looking for people who may have forgotten about money in old bank accounts or from insurance claims, stocks or deposits for rent or utilities.
There are more than 39 million unclaimed fund accounts in New York totaling $15.5 billion.

You can find out if you have some forgotten money by going to the comptroller’s website osc.state.ny.us or by calling 1-800-221-9311.  A map of unclaimed funds can also be found on the New York State Comptroller's office website.

DiNapoli says the state returns more than $1.5 million a day to residents across the state.  The Comptroller’s office says some money that has been lost or forgotten dates back to the 1940s.
