The owners of a small wire-haired terrier who has been missing since a car crash on Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County now are offering a reward in their effort to find him.

The three-year-old dog named Billy ran away from the scene of a serious collision on the highway near New Milford on December 27.

Kate Moran and Matt Musto of Jersey City, New Jersey escaped serious injury in the crash. But they've been heartbroken by the disappearance of their beloved pet. He managed to get out of a seatbelt harness and run off into a wooded area off I-81.

Moran on Monday said she and her husband haven't given up hope on being reunited with Billy, even though it now has been nearly 100 days since the crash.

Moran told WNBF News the couple is offering a reward for confirmed sightings with photo or video proof. She said they believe Billy was last spotted by two women on Feburary 13 just south of Hallstead and Great Bend.

Although the dog has been seen in Susquehanna County, Moran believes it's possible he also has wandered into Broome County, perhaps in the Kirkwood area.

Moran said she knows her dog is very scared and in survival mode. She emphasized that he won't come to a person when he's called because of his fear. She hopes anyone who spots a dog they believe to be him will take a photo and contact her immediately with the location information.

Moran said Billy is a brown wire-haired terrier mix who weighed about 25 pounds. He is microchipped.

Moran urged anyone who might spot the dog not to chase him because he most likely will be scared off and could run into traffic.

Moran may be contacted at (716) 604-6049.
