More COVID Deaths Reported in Southern Tier
The elderly continue to fall victim to the deadly coronavirus as pandemic restrictions ease and vaccinations against COVID-19 continue to be made readily available.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar has announced two more deaths attributed to COVID-19. A man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s passed away May 16, bringing Broome’s death toll to 342. Tioga County also reported another death. That County’s death toll now stands at 78.
Broome added 27 cases from May 15, Chenango County reports 17 new cases, Cortland County ten, Delaware County only five new cases and Tioga County added 20 cases from the May 15 report.
Broome County is offering the Pfizer vaccine, the only shot approved for those age 12 and over, tomorrow at the SUNY Broome Ice Center. The Johnson and Johnson vaccine is being given at the Ice Center on Thursday. Go to www.gobroomecounty.com to schedule an appointment.
Chenango County is having a walk-up vaccination clinic at West Park in Norwich May 19. The Johnson and Johnson one-dose vaccine will be available from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Appointments are being taken for the Moderna vaccine that will be given at the Old Label Shopper store on Thursday, May 20.
