The Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service is replaced by a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 1 p.m. January 24.

Heavy rain over most of the region overnight switched over to snow and some mixed precipitation early in the morning and emergency services officials reported road crews heading out to address slippery conditions.

Hundreds of New York State Electric and Gas customers in mainly rural areas overnight experienced power interruptions.

NYSEG’s website indicated some customers, like some in Whitney Point, would not have power restored until late morning

Motorists were encouraged give themselves extra time.

Many school districts in the region that were on delay, hoping to get the Regents testing done, opted to close instead.
