Awards of up to $500 are available to proposals submitted by the end of business May 3 to the County Department of Parks, Recreation and Youth Services.

Officials say the applications can be for one-day events, several week or weekend events that directly offer youth engagement.

The programs can be educational, athletic, environmental and preventive and the money cannot be used for salaries stipends or capital improvements. The funds can be used for snacks, refreshments, giveaways or promotional items.

The agency proposing the project is responsible for paying the bills and the programming has to take place in Broome County.

Applications are available at the Broome County website and can be emailed to bcparks@co.broome.ny.us.
