Massive Water Loss After Endicott Pipeline Breaks
A ruptured line caused water to drop dramatically in a huge Endicott storage tank.
The broken water main was on East Franklin Street near the Robble Avenue intersection. The problem was reported around 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Thousands of gallons poured from the 12-inch line just west of the Huron Campus. The massive amount of water damaged sections of the roadway.
East Franklin Street was closed from Skye Island Drive to Robble Avenue while crews using heavy equipment worked to make repairs to the damaged water main.
A village water department official said the level in a storage tank off Pine Street - about a half-mile from the break - fell about three feet.
Some Endicott water customers encountered discolored water after the break. It appeared no homes or businesses lost water service as a result of the problem.
The water department official said the broken main was part of a Huron water line.
