Mandy Moore Teases Her Return to Music — Hear a Snippet from Her Studio Session (LISTEN)
Mandy Moore is getting back to her roots!
On Friday (July 13), the 34-year-old singer, who hasn't released a full-length in nearly a decade, has tapped Grammy-nominated producer Mike Viola for her solo comeback to music with what sounds to be a soulful production.
"Getting back to it. It’s time. I miss it. I’m not scared anymore," Moore captioned an Instagram video, which features the star uttering lyrics from her new material. "No more excuses. No more allowing someone else's insecurities to dictate my relationship to music and singing. Boom. Also - this is just a little demo of something @themikeviola and I worked on yesterday... but still, it’s a start!"
Moore first found her breakout as an artist in the late '90s with her 1999 debut album So Real, receiving her path to teen dream stardom alongside Jessica Simpson, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears. The record, a fun mix of sassy, sugar-pop singalongs like "Candy" and "So Real," earned a platinum certification from the RIAA.
She went on to release five more LPs across the 2000s, her sixth and most recent being Amanda Leigh in 2009.
Since then, Moore has become widely-recognized for her film and television work, having voiced Rapunzel in 2010's Tangled, starred in the survival thriller 47 Meters Down, and landing her small screen breakthrough role on NBC's Emmy-nominated drama This Is Us in 2016. The latter of which Moore received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 2017 and took home a Screen Actors Guild honor for TV Drama Ensemble back in January.
