Man Hurt in Johnson City Apartment House Fire

Authorities say one person was injured as a result of a two-alarm blaze in Johnson City.

The fire at 10-12 North Broad Street was reported at 7:24 p.m. Monday.

Several people were inside the three-story building when the fire broke out.

Fire marshal Paul Hlebica said the man who was transported to Wilson Medical Center may have needed treatment for smoke inhalation.

Units from Binghamton and Prospect Terrace assisted Johnson City firefighters in battling the blaze.

Hlebica said fire damage was confined to a third-floor room and its contents. He said the fire originated in the area of a couch in the apartment's living room.

Johnson City police are assisting fire investigators in determining the cause of the blaze.

Hlebica said there were two vacant apartments in the nine-unit building at the time of the fire.
