Man Evaluated After Binghamton Police Seal Off Neighborhood
A street in Binghamton's First Ward was closed when police responded to a report of a despondent man.
Several police units were dispatched to 3 Field Street shortly before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The man reportedly had made statements that caused concern. He initially was inside the large, two-story house. He was said to have been acting erratically.
Field Street was closed between Charles and Jarvis streets due to police activity. When the man emerged from the house, officers spoke with him for a short time and then detained him.
The man was transported by Superior Ambulance to a hospital to be evaluated.
Police chief Joseph Zikuski was at the scene briefly but he departed without commenting on the incident. Other police department supervisors also would not discuss the situation.
