Man Charged After Explosive Devices Placed at Endwell Home

A town of Union man has been arrested for allegedly leaving two improvised explosive devices outside a residence in Endwell.

Authorities say 46-year-old Marc McKercher has been charged with first-degree attempted arson, a felony.

New York State Police were called to a house on King Street around 12:45 p.m. Monday after a resident discovered two "suspicious devices."

The boxes are said to have contained explosives described as M-80s and along with BBs. They were found on the front steps and front lawn of the home.

Investigators determined the items were improvised explosive devices which "did not detonate successfully."

A bomb disposal unit was called to the scene to transport the explosives out of the neighborhood.

Police were on the scene for several hours on Monday afternoon. McKercher was arrested Thursday.

A resident of the house where the devices had been placed declined to comment on the incident.
