After more than $750 million in worldwide grosses, Disney quickly moved to make a Maleficent sequel. Previously referred to as Maleficent II, the movie has a new subtitle — Mistress of Evil — a new release date, and a new teaser poster featuring Jolie returning to the title role:

The first film was directed by Robert Stromberg; the sequel is by Joachim Rønning, who previously co-directed the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie, Dead Men Tell No Tales, with his former directing partner Espen Sandberg. Elle Fanning and Sam Riley are both returning for the sequel; here’s the film’s official synopsis:

A fantasy adventure that picks up several years after “Maleficent,” in which audiences learned of the events that hardened the heart of Disney’s most notorious villain and drove her to curse a baby Princess Aurora, “Maleficent II” continues to explore the complex relationship between the horned fairy (Angelina Jolie) and the soon to be Queen (Elle Fanning), as they form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil opens in theaters on October 18, 2019. It was previously expected to open next summer.
