Lorde’s ‘Green Light’ Is Here: Watch the Music Video
"Green Light" will have fans praising the Lorde — especially those who also worship at the altars of Taylor Swift and their mutual collaborator Jack Antonoff, in terms of its sound.
Lorde announced her new single from her forthcoming Melodrama album on Wednesday (March 2), describing it as "very different, and kinda unexpected." The track offers a much breezier sound than that on much of her 2013 Pure Heroine debut.
"It's complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you DANCE," the New Zealand singer-songwriter tweeted, continuing, "it's the first chapter of a story i'm gonna tell you, the story of the last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life. This is where we begin."

Bleachers and fun. musician and producer Antonoff, who's logged a ton of studio time with Lorde (and cowrote "Sweeter Than Fiction," "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" and three 1989 tracks with Swift), effectively confirmed his work on "Green Light" on Thursday.
The "Green Light" video is directed by Grant Singer, who's responsible for many of The Weeknd's videos including "The Hills" and "Starboy," and helmed Taylor Swift and Zayn's "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" video (another Taylor connection). Whether this is, in fact, Lorde's own 1989-esque era remains to be seen, and we eagerly await more music.
