A children's ride malfunctioned at the New York State Fair.

The Speedway children's ride malfunctioned Wednesday afternoon causing 2 cars to collide. Kids were on the ride at the time but luckily no one was injured.

"We went through the ride from A to Z again to ensure we didn't have any other issues," Ride Safety Consultant, Jonathan Brooks tells CNYCentral.

The ride was repaired, inspected and is back on track." I'm 100% confident in our policies and procedures and our safety policies and procedures as well,” said Brooks.

The malfunction had nothing to do with operator error. Brooks tells CNYCentral, "The operator was given a sobriety test by the New York State Troopers and was found to be exactly 100 percent sober."

Matt Hughes says his son Hunter was on the ride when it malfunctioned, sharing on Facebook "The guy operating the ride was not paying attention to the one person on the ride he was in charge of. We were yelling to stop the ride then the car came completely detached and went under another car."

Brooks says rides are inspected every day before the gates open at the state fair.

The state fair runs through September 2nd in Syracuse. Get more details at NYSFair.org.
