Ja Rule Denies Trying To ‘SCAM or FRAUD Anyone’ With Fyre Festival
Fyre Festival is dominating the conversation online once again, and fans are pointing fingers at Ja Rule.
The rapper responded to allegations he intentionally scammed festival attendees, or was complicit, with the failed luxury event. He claims neither Hulu nor Netflix captured the whole story in their respective documentaries, and the public "don't know s---."
"I love how ppl [SIC] watch a doc and think they have all the answers," he tweeted.
Ja continued, "I had an amazing vision to create a festival like NO OTHER!!! I would NEVER SCAM or FRAUD anyone what sense does that make???"
The rapper then began responded to individuals criticizing him. One such user suggested he "should've been charged too."
"It be your own ppl...," he responded.
He also made sure to note that Hulu paid Billy McFarland, the embattled co-founder of Fyre Festival, for an interview while Netflix paid F---Jerry, the company that promoted the event. He suggested that the money should have gone toward "the Bahamian ppl."
Ja has been scrutinized for being involved in Fyre Festival at all, but most of the outrage stemmed from a comment he made near the end of the Netflix Fyre Festival documentary. The film closed with a scene of a team-wide call, during which Ja denied that they had committed fraud.
"Let's think of how to dig ourselves out of this s---, man," he said. "We didn't kill anybody, nobody got hurt. We made a mistake, we'll get past it."
