New York Donut Shop Just Named Best in the State

An upstate New York donut shop has just been named one of the top 10 donut shops in the country!

Earlier this month many of us celebrated National Donut Day (June 7th) by enjoying a donut or two from our favorite donut shops. I'll be the first to admit I don't need a special day to enjoy a donut...LOL! I just need a good donut shop to visit and thankfully the Hudson Valley is home to a ton of great shops to grab a delicious donut from.

We recently came up with a list of some of our favorite donut shops in the Hudson Valley (below) but before you scroll down to see if your favorite made this list let us tell you that an upstate New York donut shop has just been named one of the best donut shops in the U.S. according to USA Today. Each year the national publication ranks and rates various businesses from across the country to come up with that year's 10 best in multiple categories.

Best Donuts in the U.S.

They've done everything from candy shops, and the most "Christmassy" towns to the best donuts and this year one New York donut shop is celebrating making the top 10 best donut shops. To find the best donuts the folks at USA Today gave its readers the chance to vote on various donuts shops that were selected by an expert panel. The best of the best donuts shops "serves up an array of flavors that cater to every palate — from classic glazed favorites to avant-garde gourmet varieties — and every bite feels like a special treat."

The best of the best included donut shops from Maryland, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Utah, Iowa, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. One New York donut shop appeared on this year's list and took the #7 spot!

Best Donuts in New York

Darling Doughnuts is located at 441 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, New York, and is known for a rotating menu of flavors every week, including flavors like root beer float, Boston cream, mango lemonade, churro, cookies & cream, and strawberry shortcake to name a few. They also feature something called a "doughrogie", which has been described as "a doughnut and a pierogi met and had a gooey-filled baby." Darling's doughnut menu flavors change weekly but always offer something interesting!
