Happy Thanksgiving! May you have a wonderful holiday. Food is a big part of the holiday, from large family get-togethers to take-out or dine-in restaurants that offer Thanksgiving fare.

Unfortunately, not everyone can afford or have the necessary things to prepare such a meal. But again this year, there are places for the community to go for a free, delicious Thanksgiving meal.

One such place is the annual Binghamton High School Thanksgiving Dinner to be held on November 27th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In past years, an average of around 500 people have stopped in for dinner. The dinner, which is open to everyone in the community, will be at the cafeteria of Binghamton High School on Main Street.

According to the Binghamton City School District, the dinner is organized by National Honor Society students. These students help prepare and serve the meals.

The Thanksgiving meals are cooked by the Binghamton High School Food Services staff, and according to the website, include over 700 pounds of turkey, potatoes, corn, stuffing, cranberry sauce, over 600 dinner rolls, and 80 pies. The event typically welcomes around 500 people throughout the day.
