Upstate New York Man Missing, Cell Phone Last Pinged in Northern Pennsylvania
Update August 8, 2024: In posts to social media, the family of Ronald Barry Schmelzle, Sr. say that he was found safe after somehow ending up in Tennessee.

The National Center For Missing and Endangered Persons has issued a Missing Endangered Alert for 79-year-old Ronald Barry Schmelzle, Sr., who was last seen leaving Boonville, New York which is in Oneida County, on August 6, 2024. Schmelzle is said to have been en route to Grandy, NC.
Schmelzle is described as a white male, 5'9" tall, weighing 190 lbs, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen driving a silver 2018 Subaru Impreza four-door with a New York license plate BVK3591.
Schmelzle’s family last heard from him on August 6 when he spoke to his brother on the phone at 9:30 p.m., stating he was in Pennsylvania. The last active ping from his cell phone was on August 6 at 10 a.m. in Hazleton, Pennsylvania.
Authorities believe that Ronald Barry Schmelzle, Sr. may be suffering from a cognitive impairment, making his situation potentially more urgent.
