According to a report by Zeke Miller and Colleen Long for the Associated Press, President Biden is expected to sign the executive order on Tuesday to increase the number of background checks for gun purchases and promote more secure firearm storage.

The report also indicates that President Biden will have his Cabinet work to make changes to support communities suffering from gun violence and mandate better reporting of ballistics data to match shell casings to guns.

John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety, said "President Biden's executive order today is a home run for public safety. This is the latest example of President Biden's leadership on gun safety, and we're proud to stand with him as he takes robust action to help close the gun-seller loophole      which will significantly expand background checks on gun sales, keep weapons out of the hand of dangerous people and save lives."

President Biden will also ask the Federal Trade Commission to issue a report on gun manufacturers marketing guns to minors and using military images to market them.

The report comes just days after a federal judge signed a court order to halt 10 gun distributors from selling or shipping gun parts and kits in New York as part of an effort to crack down on "ghost guns." Guns created from these kits are essentially untraceable, as they're put together from separate parts and not purchased as a whole.
