Next Chapter for “Pasquale’s” in Binghamton Getting Closer

The wait is almost over for people who've been been looking forward to the opening of a new soup and sandwich shop on Binghamton's East Side.

The business will operate at the site of Pasquale's Deli at 180 Broad Avenue. The deli, which had been a fixture in the neighborhood for several decades, closed suddenly last October.

A Binghamton man, Jesus Clarke, in December revealed plans to launch a new eatery featuring many of the items that were popular at Pasquale's.

Clarke had hoped to open Pasquale's Soup & Sandwich shop by the end of January.

The place isn't operating yet but Clarke told WNBF News on Thursday that he expects to have things up and running by the end of this month. He said "we're moving along" in the preparations to open the business.

A temporary sign for the new shop was placed over the old Pasquale's sign on Wednesday.

Clarke said he's hoping to "streamline things" with the operation of the new soup and sandwich shop with an online ordering system. He is completing work on a website for the business.

A menu for the shop hasn't been finalized. Clarke said it will feature some of the things people enjoyed at Pasquale's Deli, along with homemade pastrami and homemade corned beef.

Clarke said he's pleased by the outpouring of support he's received since he announced his plans to establish the new business. He also operates Big Zues Barbecue on Chenango Street in downtown Binghamton.
