The legal marijuana retailing business continues to grow in the Binghamton area.
Another state-licensed cannabis dispensary is expected to open in Broome County in a few weeks.
The next competitor in the increasingly-competitive local weed marketplace will be FlynnStoned Cannabis Company store.
The shop will be in Nimmonsburg Square at 1139 Upper Front Street in the town of Chenango.
The FlynnStoned dispensary will be operated by Robert Grannis of the town of Union. He said there's no specific target date for opening the business but he expects operations could start early next month.
On Friday, workers were busy inside the 2,300-square-foot shop located between and H&R Block tax preparation office and a nail salon.
This will be the third location for FlynnStoned Cannabis Company. The first store began operating in downtown Syracuse in 2023 with the second shop opening last month in Oswego. Other stores are planned for Rochester, Auburn and Buffalo.
The town of Chenango dispensary will be located a short distance south of a planned marijuana manufacturing business.
Dragonfly Brands wants to open a cannabis processing facility at 1247 Upper Front Street.
The company has renovated the space previously occupied by the Tokyo Sushi Buffet restaurant. It's not known when the manufacturing site will start operating.
