Mass. Murder Suspect Nabbed Near Binghamton General Hospital
Police in Binghamton have apprehended a man wanted for murder in Massachusetts.
Authorities say 40-year-old Anthony Robertson was taken into custody after he and another man ran away from police on the city's South Side.
Investigators say Robertson was wanted on arrest warrants for murder and kidnapping in connection with the killing of a man whose body was found in Pittsfield, Massachusetts in December.
Binghamton police and members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force tried to take Robertson into custody at a large apartment building at 83 Pennsylvania Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Robertson and 35-year-old Anwar Kelly of Binghamton fled on foot. They were apprehended outside a medical office building just west of Binghamton General Hospital after a brief foot chase.
Police say Robertson was transported from the scene by ambulance for treatment of a preexisting condition.
Police executed a search warrant on a vehicle and at an apartment at 83 Pennsylvania Avenue. They say they seized a loaded 9mm "ghost gun," a stolen loaded Glock 9mm handgun, a rifle and ammunition. They also confiscated fentanyl and cash.
Robertson was turned over to the Marshals Service to face weapon and drug charges.
Kelly faces weapon and drug charges. He was arraigned in Binghamton City Court and sent to Broome County Jail.
According to WWLP-TV, Robertson is the fourth suspect arrested in connection with the killing of a 32-year-old man whose body was found in the Pittsfield State Forest on December 4.
