Remembering Kadin: Heartbreaking Memorial Near Vestal High School
People in Vestal and beyond are expressing their sadness following the death of high school senior Kadin Abdullah in a Thanksgiving Day vehicle crash.
Town police said Abdullah was pronounced dead at the scene early Thursday morning. He died on his eighteenth birthday.
Investigators said Abdullah was a passenger in a vehicle that went off Clayton Avenue and struck a fence around 1:15 a.m. The driver's identity has not been released.
A memorial of flowers, candles and photos has been growing at the corner of Clayton Avenue and Clark Street. The site is a short distance southwest of Vestal High School.
A handwritten message accompanied three photos of Kadin at the memorial. It began: "The brightest spirit the world has ever known. You were taken so unfairly Kadin, and for that I am so sorry."
A photo of a younger Kadin included thoughts on some of the things that made him happy including: "When I play with friends." That message also read: "Let me tell you about me. I am nice, generous, kind, and friendly."
An online obituary said Kadin enjoyed playing football and basketball. A football and two basketballs were placed on the corner a few yards from where he died.
Kadin's family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hopler & Eschbach Funeral Home at 483 Chenango Street in Binghamton. A time to share memories will begin at 7:00 p.m.
