Funeral arrangements have been finalized for John "JR" Gaudet, the Binghamton firefighter who died in the line of duty.

The 40-year-old Gaudet was fatally injured in a building collapse while battling a raging fire on Main Street Wednesday night. He was an 11-year veteran of the Binghamton Fire Department.

Gaudet is survived by his wife, Felly Gaudet, and their three young children: Charles, Vanessa and Michael.

The family will receive friends at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Highland Avenue in Binghamton Tuesday from 1 to 5 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at the church on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Johnson City.

Donations to support Gaudet's wife and children may be made at a GoFundMe site or to an account that has been set up at the Syracuse Fire Department Credit Union.

Authorities said Gaudet was taken to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City after being injured when a burning structure collapsed minutes after firefighters arrived at 1 Main Street. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two other firefighters were treated at Wilson for minor injuries and released.

Binghamton police and fire investigators will not discuss a possible cause of the fire.

Two heavily-damaged structures were demolished the day after the blaze.
