Business is Brisk at Shop Set Up at Former Endicott Burt’s Site
The operator of an Endicott store that's been operating for more than a year in a Washington Avenue storefront says his shop is thriving.
Andrew Davis of Whitney Point opened an antique and collectible business in a section of a building that had been the home of the iconic Burt's department store for several decades. The shop is called Double D Discoveries.
The space on the ground floor at 40 Washington Avenue most recently had been occupied by the "IBM Collection" in the Endicott History and Heritage Center.
Davis said about a dozen vendors now offer an array of specialized merchandise - in his words "a bit of everything." That includes antiques, collectibles, sports cars, jewelry and coins.
Davis had sold collectibles on eBay for a couple of decades before he decided to open the Endicott store.
The shop on "The Avenue" occupies 4,800 square feet. Davis said the store may expand at some point in the future. He said there now is enough space for one or two more vendors.
