Another downtown Binghamton restaurant is preparing to go out of business.

The co-owners of Burger Mondays Bar & Grille at 23 Henry Street have announced plans to close. The restaurant opened in February 2011.

Matt and Suzie Jones posted a message on social media late Thursday informing their customers and friends that they "will be closing the doors to Burger Mondays" on Sunday, February 9.

The announcement was made "with bittersweet excitement" as they prepare to move on "to our next adventure."

The co-owners thanked the community for its support which "single-handedly helped us enjoy the most incredible of times and persevere the most uncertain of lows."

In recent years, Burger Mondays coped with the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and falling bricks. Two years ago, the restaurant's dining room was closed for a few weeks after a section of a parapet wall above the entrance collapsed.

In their announcement, the Burger Mondays co-owners provided a hint of what's next. They wrote: "We won't be going far and will continue to be a delicious part of downtown Binghamton's restaurant scene."

Burger Mondays will be open normal hours through Saturday, February 8.

Matt Jones was not immediately available for comment Thursday evening to discuss the decision to close the restaurant.
