Thursday, January 30, 2025, UHS and Binghamton University officials, including John Carigg, CEO of UHS, Inc., Eugene Marshall Jr, Director of Athletics at Binghamton University, and Dr. Kristen Herbst from UHS Orthopedics,  announced a partnership between UHS and Binghamton University Bearcat Athletics.

During the press conference at the UHS Orthopedic Center on the Vestal Parkway East, Vestal, it was announced that UHS has become the official orthopedic partner of Binghamton University Athletics, which will allow for immediate world-class care of Binghamton University athletes and innovations.

This includes the BEAR® Implant for treatment and repair of ACL tears which will ensure that athletes who suffer injuries have the best care and recovery.

In addition, Binghamton University Student-Athletes and their families will have world-class healthcare and recovery when an injury is sustained, and that communication with the athlete's family is clear and the best, most effective recovery plan is established.

According to UHS, the BEAR® Implant is a treatment option for ACL tears, which is one of the most common knee injuries in the United States.

 The BEAR® Implant functions as a scaffold that facilitates the healing of the torn ACL. Studies show that this implant restores the quality and size of an ACL to that of an uninjured ACL and in addition, leads to a faster recovery of muscle strength.
