No Arrests in Fatal Binghamton Shooting

Binghamton police detectives are still working to find those who were involved in a deadly confrontation on the city's East Side.

Investigators said 29-year-old Tyshawn J. Hickman of Binghamton was pronounced dead shortly after he was shot around 5:45 a.m. Saturday.

Police officers who were nearby heard several gunshots and found Hickman and another man on the ground behind a building on Montgomery Street east of Whitney Avenue.

Hickman was pronounced dead at the scene. The other man was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment of a serious head injury.

Erianna Cooper, Hickman's longtime partner, said she had spoken with him by phone about 90 minutes before he was shot. She said he had been out with friends and everything seemed fine.

Cooper and Hickman had known each other since they were 12 years old. Cooper said Hickman leaves behind a five-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.

A wake has been scheduled at United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton at 42 Chenango Street from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.

A funeral service is to be held at the church at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Binghamton police Monday afternoon said investigators are pursuing leads in connection with the incident. It happened near Pancho's Caribbean Kitchen, which was being monitored by officers when the shooting occurred.
