A Binghamton man is facing a long list of charges after Broome County Sheriff’s officials say they found him driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Syracuse November 23 and he tried to run away from them.

Deputy Jerad Hand noticed the stolen vehicle at around quarter of one Tuesday morning, December 13, traveling on Broad Avenue near Bevier Street.

According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, Deputy Hand followed the vehicle, driven by 39-year-old Roland McIntyre, and called for backup before making the traffic stop on Prospect Street.

Upon pulling the vehicle over to the side of the road, the driver, took off, attempting to evade arrest by fleeing on foot.

Authorities say McIntyre was taken into custody a short distance away.

Sheriff’s Deputies say they found a small amount of cocaine on the Binghamton’s man person.  A further investigation found McIntyre had been in possession of a bag inside the stolen vehicle that contained a collapsible Kel-Tec semi-automatic rifle and a loaded pistol magazine.

In addition to those weapons, Deputies say they confiscated other, non-specified miscellaneous from inside the vehicle.

McIntyre was transported to the Sheriff’s Office in the Town of Dickinson for further investigation.

He was processed on charges of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, which is a Class D felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, which is a Class A misdemeanor, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, which is a Class A misdemeanor, Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, which is a Class A misdemeanor and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the 2nd Degree, which is an unclassified misdemeanor.

After being processed by the Sheriff’s office, McIntyre was turned over to Binghamton Police for arraignment in City of Binghamton Court.
