Binghamton Banquet Center to Open at Former Supermarket Site
Work to transform a Binghamton building into a venue for weddings and other special events is almost complete.
Major construction work for the future Celebrations on Park banquet facility has been finished.
The business will operate in an 8,000-square-foot building at 136 Park Avenue. The site most recently was the home of a Knights of Columbus post. The place originally opened as a Harris Foodlines supermarket in 1965.
Park Partners Properties LLC acquired the site for $150,000 four years ago.
Danielle Sepe has said she and her family have wanted to develop a project that would be important to Binghamton's South Side.
Celebrations on Park event director Danielle Hughes said the venue is expected to open toward the end of March. She said a couple of private events are to be held at the site before then.
Hughes said the facility will have a seated capacity of 250 people and a standing capacity of 300.
