PHOTO: SpaceX 9 Falcon Launch Viewable In Southern Tier Skies

So it's not often that was can see a launch into space into the Southern Tier. However that's what happened on Saturday night, September 24 when Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon 9 lifted off from Cape Canaveral.

At 7:32 p.m. there were 52 Starlink internet satellites rocketed into space on top of the Falcon 9 rocket launcher. It was SpaceX's 43rd launch of the year and the fourth Falcon mission of the month.

SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Visible In The Southern Tier

That's an incredible view but this is even better. You wouldn't think that we would be able to witness this incredible event in the Southern Tier, but we could. Even our very own, WBNG-TV meteorologist Howard Manges was a little surprised.

However, he has the right kind of friends that let him know and Howard was kind enough to share the photos with the rest of us. This is what the Falcon 9 Rocket looked like in the Southern Tier on Saturday, September 24 around 8 p.m.

SpaceX has sent 3,399 Starlink satellites into orbit and they hope to deploy 4,400 by the time they are done with its initial fleet. The Falcon 9 is the first orbital class rocket capable of ref-light and the next upcoming rocket launch is scheduled for Friday, September 30 at 5:36 p.m.

It probably won't be visible to us in the Southern Tier but I'm sure we'll keep our eyes to the sky.
