Hey there, have you ever wondered where all those big bucks go when it comes to police misconduct cases? According to a recent study, New York State seems to be leading the way, forking out over a $1 billion in settlement money.

You may or may not believe this, but New York's payouts are 20% more than what the top 10 states combined have shelled out! And get this, between 2010 and 2014, New York City alone has dished out over $601 million for police misconduct settlements.

And it didn't stop there - from 2017 to 2018, they added nearly $270 million to the tab. Nassau County piled on another $100 million between 2006 and 2013.

New York is not alone in this. Illinois and Pennsylvania are also making headlines in this not-so-glamorous race. Illinois payed an average of $22 million per settlement, while Pennsylvania wasn't far behind, handing out nearly $15 million for each case.

The report also gives us a little peek into some high-profile cases, like the $12 million paid by the city of Louisville to Breonna Taylor's family in Kentucky. California, has the highest number of settlements at 29, totaling $332.5 million, with LA chipping in with $190 million all on its own.

I'm not condemning any of our men and women in blue, what they do is a calling. They are the ones who go after when we run away. Their loved ones wonder every day when they leave for work, if they will be coming home that night.

They have to make instant decisions that can change their life FOREVER! God bless the blue and thank you for what you do.
