Forecasters are watching a winter storm they saw will impact the Southern Tier sometime during the early evening hours of Monday, March 13, and last until the early morning hours of Wednesday, March 15, bringing with it anywhere from 8 to 20 inches of snow.

City of Binghamton Mayor Jared M. Kraham along with Binghamton public safety officials has issued an announcement to all City of Binghamton residents that all garbage and recycling pickup will be halted until at least Wednesday, March 15.

Additionally, Mayor Kraham reiterated the importance of refraining from parking on City streets in Binghamton for the next few days in order for crews to manage the daunting task of snow removal.

Residents are reminded that if they have no choice but to park on a City street, they must follow the City's alternate-side parking rules and offenders will be ticketed or towed by Binghamton Police who will be focusing their efforts on enforcing alternate-side parking as violators have hindered the removal of snow.

In a statement sent to Townsquare Media, Mayor Kraham reiterated that alternate side parking is in effect and that “Binghamton Police will be actively enforcing all City parking rules to ensure plows can access every neighborhood and clear the streets.”

Mayor Kraham also noted that residents of Binghamton are being asked to use driveways, public garages, or even the lots located within City parks rather than park on the street during this storm.

Residents who are unsure of what the alternate side of the street parking rules are in the City of Binghamton can find them here.
