Our Country Hearts Hosts Donation Day to Benefit Broome County Dog Shelter
Calling all dog lovers! Our Country Hearts on Route 26 in Endicott is organizing a special donation day to support the Broome County Dog Shelter.
On June 1st, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., you have the opportunity to contribute to this worthy cause by donating items that will directly benefit the shelter's residents. The goal? To gather enough supplies to fill the Our Country Hearts box truck and make a significant impact on the lives of these dogs in need.
Volunteer Applications and Dog Adoptions
Not only can you make a difference through donations, but Our Country Hearts will also have volunteer applications available for those interested in lending a helping hand at the Broome County Dog Shelter. By becoming a volunteer, you can play a vital role in brightening the lives of homeless dogs as they wait for their forever homes. Additionally, Our Country Hearts will feature photos of dogs available for adoption, allowing you to find your perfect furry companion and provide them with a loving home.
The Broome County Dog Shelter's Dedicated Service
The Broome County Dog Shelter has been serving the community since 1956. Although it utilizes Broome County's housing facility for dogs, the shelter operates independently of County funding. Instead, it relies on contracts with ten towns to house stray adoptable dogs and puppies. The shelter is sustained by redemption fees, adoption fees, and generous donations to its trust fund. By supporting the shelter, you are directly contributing to the care and well-being of these animals in need.

Donations that Really Make an Impact
Did you know that donations made to the Broome County Dog Shelter are tax-deductible under Section 170 of the IRS Code? You can make a meaningful contribution while also enjoying the benefits of a tax deduction. Here are some items that the shelter is especially in need of:
- Purina One Adult Dry Food
- Tide Liquid Laundry Detergent
- Clorox Bleach
- Blue Dawn Dish Soap
- Toys Without Stuffing (Medium to Large Size)
- Large Nyla Bones
- Tennis Balls
- Bullysticks or other non-rawhide bones
- Canned Pumpkin
In addition to these items, monetary donations are always welcome and greatly appreciated.
